Yesterday's class was a bit less active as there were many students absent because they were sick. We first went through the concept of health, what it means and what are some things that they do to stay healthy. Because of the smaller class, some of the students felt more comfortable speaking up in front of the class. After explaining this to them, we had an activity for them where they would listen to a conversation between me and Sakib about a nurse and patient, and they had to fill out the medical form in their student booklet. Most of the students were able to complete it quite quickly after we told them that the conversation was on the next page in their booklet. I think that they need more listening activities because we have established that they are able to read and find information in a paragraph, but not forma listening to a conversation.
After that, we taught them the difference between Commands and recommendation or advice. Some of the students had trouble grasping the concept, but with the help of some of the advanced students they eventually understood it.
Another thing that we went over with them yesterday was what Verbs were and how to use simple past. Making the students understand the concept of verbs took a while, and most of them got it by the end of the class. They were able to come up, and tell us about things that they have done at the weekend.
There is one student that we have realized is starting to have a lot of trouble with the materials, so we we're considering having one of us sit at the back of the class with him next time to help him catch up with the others.
The class overall was very useful for them, and I believe that we covered a lot this time.
